Early Exposure and Confidence Building

Step 1 classes are designed for children in Year 1 of Primary School. These Pre-Junior English classes offer a rich and enjoyable first exposure to the English language through songs, games, storytelling and interactive technology. Students begin developing functional language, key vocabulary and letter recognition, laying a strong foundation for future learning.

Step 2 classes continue this journey for Year 2 students, deepening their understanding of sounds, letters and basic structures. The focus remains on phonics, topic vocabulary, and simple communication, fostering enthusiasm and curiosity for the English language.

Building Vocabulary and Communication

At this stage, students begin to communicate more confidently. Lessons are dynamic and interactive, encouraging children to speak, listen, read and write in English in meaningful contexts. Grammar and vocabulary are introduced gradually through engaging topics, helping students build solid linguistic and comprehension skills.

By the end of Step 4, learners are well-prepared for the Cambridge Young Learners English (YLE) tests — Starters, Movers and Flyers — which serve as their first external milestones.

Transition to Intermediate Skills

As students enter the upper primary years, the emphasis shifts towards improving fluency and accuracy.

• They learn to construct more complex sentences and express opinions both orally and in writing.
• Reading comprehension and writing tasks become more structured, introducing short paragraphs and guided writing.
• Listening and speaking activities promote pronunciation, confidence and spontaneous use of English.

By the end of Step 6, students are ready to take the Cambridge KET (A2) exam.

Cambridge PET (B1) Preparation

In Step 7, learners continue refining their grammar, broadening their vocabulary and strengthening their ability to understand and produce longer, more meaningful texts.

The focus expands to real-world communication, discussion skills, and reading for inference and detail. Writing becomes more purposeful, with students learning to produce a variety of formats such as emails, narratives, articles and short essays.

This stage prepares learners for the Cambridge PET (B1) qualification, giving them a strong sense of accomplishment and readiness for more advanced study.

Cambridge B2 First (FCE) for Schools

Steps 8 and 9 provide systematic preparation for the Cambridge B2 First (FCE) for Schools, an internationally recognised qualification accepted by over 20,000 organisations worldwide.

Students build confidence across all four key skills — reading, writing, listening and speaking — with particular emphasis on:

• Understanding and producing more complex texts
• Developing clear, structured writing across a range of formats
• Expanding advanced vocabulary and grammar in context
• Participating in extended spoken tasks to build fluency, accuracy and communicative confidence
• Reading for opinion, inference and deeper meaning

The FCE is a challenging, lifelong qualification and serves as excellent preparation for higher-level exams such as the IGCSE and IELTS.

Mastery and IGCSE Preparation

Our Step 10 is designed to ensure full linguistic maturity and academic readiness.

Students work systematically toward the Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language qualification. Instruction covers all four key skills — reading, writing, listening and speaking — with an emphasis on:

• Critical reading and text analysis
• Structured writing and essay organisation
• Advanced grammar and vocabulary in context
• Fluency and pronunciation in spoken communication

Through continuous assessment, mock exams, and personalised feedback, learners gain both the skills and the confidence to succeed at IGCSE and beyond. The IGCSE is a well-established and trusted qualification, recognised by schools, universities and official bodies throughout Cyprus.
